Thanks for sharing this thread and I was checking this program and was trying to see if I can find any good stocks to invest.

I will do the reject first approach and will definitely reject these based on my basic investment checklist -

    • DALMIA Bharat - Yet another sugar company with no pricing power
    • IG Petro - Yet another business
    • Universal Cables Ltd - High Debt
    • Lakshmi Bank - Very low promoter holding
    • GMDC - PSU
    • PTC = PSU
    • Alphageo (India) Ltd Oil - Low promoter stake of under 50%
    • BEL - PSU
    • UFO Moviez - Movies business is very unpredictable as which movie release will do well.
    • VA TECH WABAG - Low promoter stake
    So we are left with
    • Associated Stone Industries
    • GMM Pfaudler Ltd
    • Greaves Cotton Ltd
    • Ashiana Housing Ltd
    • Ion Exchange (India) Ltd
    • Coromandel International Ltd
Can you do an avoid from these companies?

Agree with you Shabbir. From this filtered list I already hold Greaves cotton and I have a continue conviction on it. It also has a sort of moat in the small engines category and now entering after market sales also. Balance sheet is very strong and has been in a trading range and I hope it gives a channel breakout soon. Your views are appreciated.

Ashiana housing has a good promoter pedigree and reputation in an otherwise very shady real estate business. I avoid industries that I do not follow - one of my principles so it's a Miss for me however good it is.

Same with me. I also tend to avoid some sectors and that is part and parcel of being able to understand some business.

Agree that this real estate company has been getting my attention from yesterday and the only concern that I have with real estate is part of black money (which is the fact) and so how much profits company can (and must) make in unaccounted part.
