Hi Shabbir...just trying to understand if it is better to practice Disciplined Intraday strategies on regular cash market or going short/long on corresponding future in derivative market ? I guess in both cases one get high leverage but in future one can carry their positions and ride the profit ..that way there is possibility of big wins .off course with strict stop loss.

I never recommend time based strategy like intraday or positional trade but then I also use those terms to make people understand things.

Actually we trade and invest in price and not on time.

You don't buy stock to say hold it for xyz time frame and then sell it. You buy stock at certain price and then sell at certain price which can be your target in ideal scenario and stop loss in non-ideal scenario.

So selling intraday is something where you hit the target (or stop loss as the case may be) same day but there is nothing called intraday trading. This is what I believe in.

On top of that I told that I don't trade in FnO because we tend to take margins most of the time and that could be killer for anybody - See http://shabbir.in/no-margin-trading/

So if you want to trade in future make sure you don't take up too much margin.

So never take leverage and opt for stop and target, not roll overs.

I deeply understand your point and i do agree with you ..thanks..
but how can we benefit from weak market bcoz as per my understanding we cant go short on any stock in india in cash market right ? I have share khan trading acct and per them shorted stocks has to be covered on same day (so its similar to intraday) or else it will be put for auction ? pls correct my understanding if wrong ..

Both of u r correct. In week market shorting is good but for shorting one must have to choose between future or option cause in intraday it is very hard to earn and I have not seen any one known to me who claims earning by intraday but seen so many loosing in intraday.
I don't prefer option trading cause it is just like pure gambling which makes u zero to hero and other side hero to zero.

Future is ok but only after spending long time in equity.

Yes I don't prefer shorting because there are so many stocks that I can go long for that I prefer that only. Weak market I short my portfolio's to grab extra money which I have explained - http://shabbir.in/profit-trading-investment/

So I have so many long opportunities that I don't need to short and so I don't need to be in futures but then if you want to be in futures, just make sure you are experienced enough like Sanjay said.

    Hi Shabbir,

A W pattern is visible in this stock. Can we go long if it closes above 312 with target of 355 and SL of 312 (?) or its still in a downtrend?

    Regards
    Pravin

No the SL should not be 312 if it breaks above that but 265 which is little discomforting
