I avoid any stocks where the profits are linked to Govt policies like ONGC or ITC where tobacco is taxed or even PSU where people don't focus on being efficient to increase profits and so all the three stocks are an avoid for me.

Now coming back to your question of suggesting 5 and I will suggest you 10 to select from.
    1. Asian Paints
    2. Marico
    3. Jubilant LifeScience / Cadila Healthcare
    4. Nestle / Jubilant Foodworks
    5. Britannia
    6. Zydus Wellness
    7. Pidilite
    8. Page Industries
    9. Astral Poly
These are my personal favorites and you will see my portfolio ( http://shabbir.in/portfolio ) being built around these stocks only.

Asian paints is a moat company. Definitely I will vote for it. But I will not buy it at current cmp 1167 for long term investment. When it corrects heavily then it may be come a attractive buy. It is a buy at what price is important.
