    Hi,

As you are aware charting software is an essential tool for Technical Analysis and there many tools available like web based and stand-alone tool.

ChartNexus is a free charting software that can be installed on a pc and it comes with 3 years of data free of cost.

    http://www.chartnexus.com/

Price data needs to be downloaded on a daily basis and it usually takes approx. 3 mins for download and once it is complete searching stocks is very fast. I use this tool as a backup charting software to find good stock patterns.

Please share any other tools that you have used or using.

Chartnexus is better than any other charting tools because it is free to use end of data.

    Hi,
Chartnexus is good software but no scanning facility. We have to go each and every chart and see the price patter or as support resistance.
I am using Amibroker EOD software in which we can scan as per our strategy.

There are few add-on modules available for ChartNexus like XPertTrader for screening stocks and there is a monthly cost for this module. More details available at below url

    http://www.chartnexus.com/software/xpt_content.php

Support & Resistance module for auto drawing of S&R on charts and alert once the S&R breaks.

Agree though not everything will be available foc as there is no free lunch.
If it is free then we may have to compromise with quality. This is my opinion and many may not agree with this :)

I use Interactive Brokers and they provide good charts but if I had to select one, it will be chartnexus.

    Thanks,
    Siva.

Yes but they only offer a broker account and you cannot get their charting software otherwise and minimum trading portfolio is above 2.5L to open an account with them.

    Hi Shabbir

Do you know of any s/w that provides lower time frame charts as well? Chartnexus does not. It sometimes may help if there are hourly charts available besides EOD. I somehow dont trust Sharekhan data.

    Hi Siva,
I've done lots of research on charting software & data provider for lower time frame and it will cost more when comparing to EoD data.
My personal preference is eSignal to be the best when comparing other providers as it includes data as well.
Next is NetDania charts which is web based charts
    http://www.netdania.com/

I couldn't recommend other data providers or charting software as few couldn't be installed easily and were not stable/reliable.

    Hi Shabbir and Raviraj,

Thank you so much ....... both of you:pleased:

    1. I used to do till day before yesterday, select the stock from excel and copy to chart tool and analyse it ... wasted so much of time ... from yesterday onwards ... created a workspace for all of my desired stocks in ChartNexus and analysing by EOD ... it saves lots of time to me and the visibility of the charts are so good compare to others.

Again many thanks to you, suggested this site to me.

    @ravirajpr,

    2. Just now I saw this site www.netdania.com and it is very use full for shorter time frame.

    Many thank to you:pleased:

    Thanks and Regards,
    Siva.

I've come across another free web based EoD charting tool available at

    http://www.marketcalls.in/charts

This is currently in beta version and seems intraday timeframe will be added soon. The look and feel and drawing tools are great as it is sourced from TradingView charts.

I had noticed some of my friends pulling free data from Yahoo into excel and then plug-in to their charting software. My advice to them was to concentrate more on the strategy & emotions as it is very important as they were trying to reinvent the wheel as of EoD data is readily available for just Rs 10k per annum which is around 850 p.m.
